The California Pacific Coast Route offers an amazing spectacle from the seat of a bicycle. The Pacific Coast Highway stretches for hundreds of miles, with the coastal mountains on one side and the crashing surf on the other.

Several of our tour itineraries take us along the quieter parts of the California Pacific Coast Bike Route, providing the opportunity to enjoy the Pacific Ocean and the coastal landscapes away from the traffic.

Tours That Visit the California Coast

Undiscovered Wine Country and Pacific Coast — six days Tour the sunny and uncrowded valleys of the Sonoma County and Mendocino County Wine Country, and the rugged Pacific Coast. Stay in Wine Country towns of Hopland and Healdsburg, cross the rugged coastal range to Sea Ranch, follow the Pacific Coast to the Russian River redwoods and Monte Rio. Spring, Summer, Fall.

Northern California Challenge — eight days Take a grand tour of Northern California's Wine Country, redwoods, coastal mountains, and Pacific Coast. Explore Sonoma County Wine Country. Climb the steep coastal mountain range. Stay at the ocean's edge in Mendocino and Sea Ranch. Ride the virtually uninhabited coastline to the Russian River's towering redwoods. Sonoma Wine Country and Pacific Coast — three days Enjoy a weekend tour of Sonoma County Wine Country, Russian River redwoods, and Northern California Pacific Coast. Visit boutique wineries, bicycle the rugged Pacific coastline, experience the rolling terrain and shady redwood forests of the Bohemian Highway, stay on the banks of the Russian River under towering redwoods. California Central Coast — five days Explore the rolling hills, wineries, and coastal splendor of the Central California Region. Visit Paso Robles Wine Country, San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, Santa Maria, the famed Santa Ynez Valley, Los Olivos, and the charming town of Solvang. Winter, Spring, Fall.

Solvang Santa Barbara County — three days Explore the country roads and pastures of the Santa Barbara County Wine Country and Santa Ynez Valley, visit the wild Pacific Coast, test your fitness —if you wish—on the time trial course used by the Amgen Tour of California. Spring and Fall.

Carmel Valley and Monterey Coast — three days Escape to unspoiled and unhurried Carmel Valley. Ride through the rolling oak-dotted hillsides and miles of mountain vistas of Steinbeck Country. Cruise the deserted and car-free roads of Fort Ord, fly down the coast through Monterey and Pacific Grove, experience the spectacular 17-Mile Drive and Pebble Beach, enjoy the charming Carmel-by-the-Sea. Big Sur Spectacular — five days Cycle Big Sur, the “grandest meeting of land and sea”.
